This is one of Lois Mailou Jones most imortant painting. Just by looking at this painting you may think that it’s nothing special, but quite on the contary you might not know how wrong you could be. in this painting there’s something of a subject that depicts African imagery. This was a huge deal back then and was a drastic change to art of a whole. Lois was one of the first to chose to paint in this style that encourages african-american culture (something that was not normally considered). Because of this it changed the drastic view of this race and had a major impact of the Harlem Renaissance.
